WA beef herd numbers may be recovering following the negative impact of the 2010 dry
season in both southern and northern areas. Projections indicate that with average
conditions, the herd total in 2012-13 will be about 1.95 million, up from the 2011-12 total of
1.87 million.
The Western Australian Beef Council, Department of Agriculture and Food and Meat and Livestock Australia are working together to deliver a program aimed at testing new market opportunities for the State’s beef industry.
